The MemoryHeart (patent pending) is a 3-Dimensional ceramic ornament and was visualized by Cathy when she visited Picasso’s 3D sculpture exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in late 2015. This ceramic heart is dedicated to the memory of her younger brother, Douglas, who suddenly passed away earlier that year. Soon after creating the ceramic piece, a smaller sterling silver pendant of the same design was crafted and dedicated in memory of her daughter. Lisa, Cathy’s eldest of five children, died 17 hours after she was born, ultimately changing the path of Cathy’s life forever.
“These hearts were created with love to help heal and ease the pain of others,” says Cathy. Cathy is a high school art teacher from Connecticut with a passion for working in fine metals. She holds a master’s degree in Special Education and is the author of “She, We, Never Even Had Time to Smell the Tulips.” (May be found on the Live-evermore.org website) Both the pendant and the ornament are the perfect gifts to commemorate the loss of a loved one and can be personalized with the initials of the deceased. The initials are inscribed on the inside of the asymmetrical heart, but can be viewed through a smaller heart cutout on the front. To honor the 5th Anniversary of the tragic Sandy Hook Shooting, Cathy has created MemoryHearts for the families of the 26 victims. She hopes to create MemoryHearts for all families who have lost loved ones to senseless violence. She has started with our schools throughout our country.
Cathy is proud to announce that any profits from the MemoryHearts will be donated to the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement, founded by the mother of Jesse Lewis, one of the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School. “This program was created by educators, for educators,” says Lewis, and is a free enrichment program that teaches children how to opt for love in all circumstances.
MerrimentHearts (patent pending) were created exclusively for those who wanted to order the MemoryHearts but for joyous occasions such as births, engagements, weddings and anniversaries. The MerrimentHeart is of similar design and is also inscribed with special dates, names or initials on the inside.
